4 out of 5 stars Awesome little radio - if you love world music, news!   July 28, 2010
The Rebel (Nueva Jersey)
First, it was easy to set up...I should say super easy. I simply typed in the WEP key from my router, allowed it to update and put in my email, and off it went. That is it. I cannot comprehend how anyone could have problems setting it up.

Second, I think it is easy to use. I think it can be a bit challenging to find a specific station you want. I think that the set up could be better, but I am not sure how. I just think it could be. I assume that in the interest of size, the screen can only offer so many options. However, I really just enjoy looking for stations around the world and this is easily done. It is also easy to put in your presets - like a car radio. I also love the local music function, that provides a list of local stations - almost making your am/fm radio unnecessary.

Lastly, the sound quality is not great. However, I would say that this can be solved by doing what I did - connecting it to your stereo or other sound system. I have an old receiver that I love with two nice Polk Audio speakers, and you can just plug in the device. I purchased, for $3.03 a Belkin "Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug/2-RCA Plugs" - see: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Z5CP/ref=oss_product

Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Also a great alarm clock   July 25, 2010
Roberta Gard
The internet radio is great. The sound is not huge but is clear and not boomy. But it's easy to plug into a bigger amplifier system if you want to fill the room. (Or get the Logitech Boombox) I wanted this radio because I am a restless sleeper and love three in the morning talk shows. I don't care if they are pod casts or what. But I do listen with ear buds so I don't disturb my husband. What I super like is that the alarm clock bypasses the ear buds. This has been a problem with any other clock radio I have had in the past. There are multiple sounds to wake up to and you can set them to start soft and get louder. You can set them for any day and it remembers that day (or multiple days.) So my Sunday get up for church goes off every Sunday without me having to turn it on. The little bell icon on the screen tells me - on Saturday night - that its set to go in the morning. You can choose digital or analog clock and dim the screen to whatever. I love the analog set fairly dim and it's perfect.

I took the radio out of state to my daughter's for a week visit. It quickly recognized her WiFi and with her password, it was up an running. Just got home. One look at networking and it was back on my system.

And I can access all my Itunes from my bedroom. I have downloaded books as well as over 2000 songs.
All available any time.
.
LOVE THIS RADIO!!!

I bought this radio because my son has one and he loves it. The sound quality is excellent.
It comes with a cord to hook up your Ipod.

purchasing this radio .

5 out of 5 stars It's NOT a radio!!!   July 24, 2010
Rick (Ohio)
First, let's set expectations correctly here. This is NOT a radio. Repeat, this is NOT a radio. OK, OK, yes, it can play radio stations, and quite honestly, a whole bunch of them including local, national, international, specialized, etc. etc. etc. Logitech, in its marketing, states over 11,000 radio stations, but with Pandora, and other internet sites, the list is endless. So, why the big deal over the fact this is NOT a radio. Real simple, you don't just plug it in and go with it. It is a computer, a wireless computer. It requires setting up. For those of you that don't like to read instructions, then forget it. You'll be frustrated and give this box one star, totally unfair. Again, if you don't have the patience to read, then don't buy this. BUT, and this is a big BUT, if you are a little technical, can read, understand a little about wireless networks, understand a bit about internet sites like Pandora, Last.FM, and the others, and you don't mind an occasional error here and there (read the old "blue screen of death", then you will absolutely love this device. I do. New York, London, Los Angeles, Pandora specialized stations, iTunes on my server, local stations that I never knew existed . . .this device plays them all. For local stations, it plays them better than my old radio, which btw, had some reception problems on certain local stations. No more.

Anyway, hope this review helps anyone considering buying this device.

P.S. One other thing, the wireless router is an important component in using the squeezebox. Need to ensure you have good connectivity and, if not, use the ethernet connection if possible. Otherwise, invest in a better router.

4 out of 5 stars A great little BOX!!!   July 20, 2010
B. Ketcham (Wichita, KS. USA)
I got this little gem for Fathers Day and use it everyday. It puts out great sound and never loses connection to my wireless network. And I mean NEVER. We play internet radio (Pandora and mp3's) all day on our outside deck by the pool and it never stutters or pauses. Better than I expected. I knocked off a star because set up takes a little bit of time, as logitech has you download the software updates immediately. So its not ready to go right out of the box. The squeezebox server was easy to set up and play all my mp3's on my home network as well. Great product, everything I wanted in an internet radio/mp3 network player.
